It's Abuelito's birthday, and Lola must go to the neighborhood bodega to get a candle for his cake! But there's just so much at the store that catches Lola's eye, from the fresh fruits and vegetables to the delicious sandwiches at the deli counter--not to mention the sweet breads and paletas. Little ones will lose themselves in the aisles along with Lola as she delves into all areas of the bodega. English and Spanish labels introduce young readers to all the common foods and items found at the grocery store.

About the Author
Sandra Equihua is a creator, illustrator, and character designer. She was born and raised in Tijuana B.C. Mexico. Seeing as she was born so close to the border, she grew up inspired by both American and Mexican cultures. She received her bachelors in Graphic Design through Ibero-American University. It wasn't until she graduated that she discovered her passion for illustration. Her clients include Sony Pictures, McGraw and Hill, WEA, Disney, WB, Nickelodeon, and the California State Fair. She has also worked in animation as an illustrator and character designer for shows like Sony's El Macho, WB's Mucha Lucha, Disney's The Buzz on Maggie, and Nick Jr's Wow Wow Wubzy! She won an Emmy for her designs on El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, later to receive an Annie Award for her designs on The Book of Life, both projects co-created with her husband and lifetime collaborator.
