Magical cats. Enchanted waterfalls. Dragon kingdoms. Enter the dazzling world of Japanese folklore, in a deluxe new edition of original stories. This luxurious volume, featuring a ribbon marker and gilt sprayed edges, brings together twenty tales from Hasegawa Takejiro's Fairy Tale Series, originally published in Japan between 1885 and 1903. In turn poetic, humorous, ghostly, and inspiring, the stories will delight fans of myth and legend, as well as lovers of Japanese culture. Original woodcut illustrations colorfully bring ancient Japan to life, from brave Samurais to trickster foxes and glittering palaces under the sea. This is a treasure trove of unexpected tales, fantastical creatures, and uniquely Japanese mythology.
